Applications for substitute teaching positions are accepted on an ongoing basis. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must hold a valid teaching credential or qualify for an emergency credential (requires completion of a bachelor’s degree).  Currently, TUSD is waiving passage of the CBEST for the first year of substituting only.

HOW TO APPLY: 

All applicants must complete an application packet for substitute teachers.  You can pick-up an application packet at 2751 De Ronde Drive in Fairfield between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Or you can request that an application packet for substitute teaching be sent to you by calling 437-4604 or by sending an email request to applications@ travisusd.k12.ca.us.  As part of the application packet, you will be required to provide proof of a negative tuberculosis test and documentation of physical fitness by your physician.  An appointment for fingerprinting will be scheduled after your application has been accepted.

COMPENSATION:

Substitute teachers are paid at the daily rate of $100.00. The daily compensation rate increases if the position extends past 15 days to $110.00 per day. Long-term substitute positions extending past 30 days are compensated per the teacher’s salary schedule. Retirees are paid at the daily rate of $120.00.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN TO WORK:

Our district uses the Sub Finder calling system.  The teacher contacts the Sub Finder when they need a substitute.  The Sub Finder system contacts substitutes through a computerized voice telephone system.

 If you are hired as a substitute, you will receive training on how to work with the system.  By working with our Sub Finder Secretary, the system can be customized to show your preferences as to work site, grade levels, dates you will work, etc. 

HOW WILL I GET ON BASE:

If you are hired as a substitute, you will be provided with a letter confirming that you are employed by TUSD as a substitute teacher.  You will take this letter, along with your valid Driver’s License or approved ID card and your car registration, to the base.  They will provide you with a pass that will allow you entrance to the base for school purposes.
