Richard C. 'Curt' Rowland Born Sept. 17, 1929, in Sacramento, he resided in Fairfield for 50 years. He was a graduate of Sacramento State University, served in the U.S. Army, a veteran of the Korean War. For nine years, he was a teacher and a coach at Crystal Elementary School and for 21 years he was a school administrator for Travis Unified School District. Mr. Rowland was principal at Travis Elementary School on base and oversaw the building and opening of Cambridge Elementary School in Vacaville. He was principal at Cambridge from 1983 until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Rowland was a partner in both Clayton and Ellis ranches in Suisun Valley for many years. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, founding director of the Bank of Fairfield, past director of Suisun Fire Protection District, charter member and officer of Golden Gate Safari Club and charter member of Napa Valley Safari Club. He was a member of the Safari Club International, member of Ducks Unlimited, founding partner of Glide in Ranch Duck Club. He supported many hunting organizations, dedicated to protecting hunting rights and wildlife conservation. Mr. Rowland is survived by his wife of 49 years, Esther of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Pete Smith of Cordelia; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Dawn of Suisun Valley; grandchildren, Matthew of Suisun Valley and Emily Smith of Cordelia.
