Student's in Mrs. Son's fifth grade classroom studied the Revolutionary War from a slightly different point of view.  One lesson focused why we went to war and how they thought the war could have been avoided entirely.  Students chose one viewpoint to discuss and debate:  The Puritans, the Loyalists, or the Patriots.  They worked as teams in most cases and presented their viewpoints both in a classroom debate and  in the a PowerPoint presentation. Children chose an area of concern to the group they had chosen and proposed an alternative solution.  They then explained why they felt this would have worked.
