While in the Library Media Center, students in Mrs. Framsted's 5th grade studies biomes.  Using Excel, students created charts reflecting annual precipitation and temperatures of various biomes.  Several students also researched biomes to learn more about their individual characteristics.  One student, Mark Milander imported all of the individual text files into one document and created hyperlinks to each of the different biomes.  He then saved the document to be posted on the website. All students graphed their data - I have included three different samples of the class project.

Planets and their Relative Size To Earth

Students study space science in fifth grade.  As part of this unit, students are required to understand that the solar system consists of eight other planets and other bodies and that the sun is the largest of these bodies. To help the children understand the differences in size of the 9 planets we found data for their size and then created a bubble chart to graph the relative differences of each planet in relation to Earth.  Children were amazed at the results.
