Collaborative Online is a category for online collaborative projects including the Global School House - a wonderful online project with schools around the world.

Educational Portals are groups of links put together by various organizations.  You will find Kathy Schrock' site for educations, SCORE, Marco Polo, Web 66 , Encarta School House and many more.

Great Sites for Kids

Kid's Web
A comprehensive digital learning resource library and information portal serving students, parents and teachers. The goal of Kid's Web is to present students with a subset of the Web that is very simple to navigate, and contains information targeted at the K-12 level. Each subject section, contains a list of links to information that is understandable and interesting to school kids. There are also links to external lists of material on each subject which more advanced students can browse for further information.

Kids-Space
Includes Creative activities, communication activities, and guides and learning sections in both activities. Includes links in a wide variety of subject areas.

Kids Click!
This site is a wonderful collection of websites created by Librarians. It is well organized by subject area. Subjects include almost everything imaginable!

Yahooligans
A site designed for children.  Includes links for History, Arts, Computers, Science, Sports, Countries, United States, Holidays, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and much more.  It is easily navigable. 

Ask Jeeves for Kids
A simple search engine using plain English to search.

PBS Kids
PBS Ready to Learn is supported by a cooperative agreement from the National Institute on Early Childhood Development and Education in the U.S. Department of Education.  Includes things like, Barney, Clifford, Liberty's Kids, Reading Rainbow, and more.

Kids Domain
Kids Domain is a leading and critically acclaimed educational and entertainment online destination for kids, parents, grandparents, caregivers, educators, and the PTA who are actively involved in the search fro and use of child-safe Internet content.  It is packed with nearly 14,000 pages of kid-friendly content.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE)

SCORE  Schools of California Online Resources for Education

Web 66
Helps to integrate the Internet into K-12 school curricula and provides and international Registry or K-12 schools on the Web.  Find curriculum suggestions, technical tips and resources for designing Web projects and integrating Web activities into the curriculum.

Discovery Channel School
Resources for your classroom for science, humanities, and social studies.  Includes lesson plans and upcoming science specials.

Encarta Schoolhouse
Educational topics such as the Civil War, rainforests, and more. Every month, a new topic is presented, including activities and curriculum information for educators.  You can find lessons by subject, grade level, or keyword.

700 Great Sites
The complete name is "700 Great Sites: Amazing, Spectacular, Mysterious, wonderful Web Sites for Kids and the Adults Who Care About Them." Sites were selected by The Children and Technology Committee of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.

MarcoPolo 
MarcoPolo provides free, high-quality Internet content to K-12 teachers.  It is a partnership between the MCI WorldCom foundation and seven renowned educational organizations: American Association for the Advancement of Science, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, National Council on Economic Education, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Geographic Society.

eBlast: Encyclopedia Britannica's Internet Guide
The world's best Web sites, plus magazines, books, and the complete encyclopedia Britannica. This site is very well organized with information gathered by Encyclopedia Britannica.

Web of On-line Dictionaries
Lists free and subscription online dictionaries and thesauri containing words and phrases to help students locate the best word to use.

Encyclopedia Britannica has a topic article and selective Web links

Online Collaborative Projects

Global Schoolhouse
Global Schoolhouse arranges materials in several formats so that teachers can locate resources with ease.  There are articles, contests, events, lists, projects, and more.  One section contains Internet Resources or teachers to use and information on curriculum projects.

Creative Classroom Online
Features teaching tips, project ideas, and contests for primary school teachers.

CU-SeeMe
The cool site offers free videoconferencing software that works over the Internet.  Cornell University hold the copyright to the software and hosts the site.  Software for Macintosh, Windows 95/NT can be downloaded here. A video camera attached to your computer is required for transmitting video.  It can be used to set up videoconferencing among student teams or classes on the Internet.  One of the noteworthy links is to the Global Schoolhouse Project.

CU-SeeMe Schools
This list puts you in touch with other K-12 schools around the world who have the capability to do CU-SeeMe video conferencing.
