Effective July 1, 2007, Travis Unified is a part of the Fairfield-Suisun/Travis BTSA Induction Program. Teachers that hold California preliminary teaching credentials, and out-of-state teachers with less than five years teaching experience, may work towards a California professional clear credential by participating in the consortium's two-year induction program.
The state-approved induction program includes a support provider who is trained in formative assessment and is assigned to work with a beginning teacher approximately 60 hours in each of two years. The beginning teacher and support provider also attend professional development seminars throughout the two-year program.

The BTSA acronym stands for Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment. This statewide induction program serves thousands of new teachers in the state of California, with a yearly budget of over 95 million dollars. Originally, the BTSA program was designed to support first and second year teachers who, on the "learning to teach continuum", had completed their student teaching, and were in their first or second year in the classroom. The success of BTSA has led to expanded parameters. Out-of-state teachers are now welcome to complete a year in BTSA to become familiar with the CSTP and the Student Content Standards. Eventually, Special Education teachers will have a CFASST formative assessment program unique to their positions, rather than using the classroom model that is presently available to them.
