Students will present book reports to the class to share books with the class and to help me assess the student's progress in reading. Here are some guidelines and suggestions for book reports. If there are any questions about a book or report, contact me first so we can make sure that it will be appropriate.
Three book reports are required for each quarter. Books for reports should be at least 100 pages long, exceptions may be made for good reasons. The reports may be presented to the class in many different forms. It may involve reading to the class, demonstrations, posters or other activities.
Start the presentation by reading a portion of the book to the class, to give them an idea of the author's writing style and reading level.
Give the basic plot.
Tell us about your favorite part and favorite character.
Tell us whether you liked the book and whether you would recommend the book to others and why.
Include a bibliography with: author, title of book, illustrator, number of pages, copyright date and publisher.
For Biographical Reports also include the following:
Name and picture of person.
A second source of information.
Date and place of birth and date and age at death.
Information about parents.
When, Why, and How did they become famous? How old were they when they became famous?
Highlights of their life: Occupations and avocations, Obstacles they had to overcome, Plans and changes in their life
Interesting trivia
A question about the book for the class with the answer.
What lesson did you learn from their life that you can apply to your life?
