Third graders at Cambridge have been studying family origins and traditions in Social Studies. While reading the book Molly's Pilgrim, we discovered that we are all pilgrims in different ways.
The United States is called the "melting pot" because most of us have ancestors who came here from another country years ago or more recently. Students found out from what country their ancestors came from.
As a culminating activity, the third grade held a Traditions Potluck in place of our regularly scheduled lunch on Tuesday, November 23, the day before Thanksgiving Break.
The students and their parents brought in traditional and delicious dishes from their ancestors's countries. A great time was had by all! The food was so delicious!
