Sixth Grade Olympics

It's almost that time! We are leaving our secure home of Cambridge Elementary School for the big, new world of Middle School. To culminate our elementary experience, sixth grade students at Cambridge celebrate Greek Olympics. After studying Ancient Greece, we formed our own city-state teams. We had to give ourselves a name, write a motto, write our anthem, and design a flag. We also adapted Greek myths into play form.

Finally, on Friday morning, we had our Olympic Opening Ceremonies. Afterward, we gathered up food we all brought and walked over to the neighborhood park where we held "Potluck and Plays in the Park." The food, entertainment, and companionship were most enjoyable!

On Monday morning, the Olympic events began with our indoor competitions. Representatives from each city-state competed in a variety of athletic events including the paper airplane javelin, scooter medley, beanbag basketball, box hurdles, and the raw egg relay (we suffered a few casualties!). Our Olympics continue throughout the week, so stay tuned for more amusing pictures!
