As part of a unit on underwater animals, kindergarteners in K-2 explored squid. They counted tentacles, looked at the eyes and the skin, examined the stomach and the insides, and broke the ink sac to makes fingerprints and write names. At the end of the lesson, the squid was cleaned, washed, and cooked with garlic and butter. Nearly everyone tried a taste and some children discovered they REALLY liked it! All six punds of squid were eaten with enthusiasm!
