Ms. Guerra's Class makes a Ham Radio Contact
April 23, 2010 |
Ham Radio in the ClassroomMs. Guerra's fourth and fifth grade class had a wonderful time using ham radio to talk to fourth grade students at Korematsu Elementary School at Mace Ranch.
Students took turns asking students at Korematsu Elementary School questions, and answering questions from the students in Davis. The excitement level in the classroom was terrific! Many students in Ms. Guerra's class expressed interest in ham radio. Several students were eager to find out how they can get their FCC Amateur Radio License.
There is no age limit to take the ham radio licensing exam, so with study, they can be licensed as ham radio operators. You can find lots of information on these web sites:At these you will find links to all the questions on the tests as well as web sites that offer practice tests!
The classroom to classroom radio contact was made possible by Yolo County Amateur Radio Emergency Services membersWes Hardaker, WS6Z, at Korematsu Elementary School and Mr. K, KG6SJT, at Cambridge Elementary.
