I am so happy to report that the recently released 2005 STAR test results demonstrate some significant gains in academic achievement for our students. Cambridges API (Academic Performance Index) score has increased by 27 points from 729 to 756. The 27 points increase is the second highest in Travis Unified School District. The states goal for all the schools is to attain a score of at least 800 and we are well on our way.
Our teachers did a quick analysis of the scores last week in their grade level groups to plan their instruction for the upcoming year. They are very gratified to see the fruits of their hard work and I would like to thank you on behalf of our teachers for all you did towards improving academic achievement. We cannot do it alone without you!
The teachers will continue their analysis to learn from the scores and build on the best practices from last year. In my opinion, being a single-track year round school, instead of a multi-track school has helped us. It has enhanced the communication and teamwork among Cambridge teachers greatly resulting in better student achievement.
