On Friday, January 14th, 2005 anxious, nervous fourth, fifth and sixth grade students took the stage to find out who would represent Cambridge Elementary School at the Grace B. Powell Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 27th, 2005 and the Solano County Elementary Spelling Bee Championship on Wednesday, March 23th, 2005.

Round after round nervous students went down until there were only three students left to represent Cambridge at the Vacaville Grace B. Powell Spelling Bee (Kylie, Mary and Jordan). Then it was time to find the one student to represent Cambridge at the Solano County Elementary Spelling Bee Championship. Mary and Kylie went back and forth again and again because they needed to spell the other’s missed word correctly and then one additional word. Finally Kylie won by spelling “bassoon” and “bazarre” correctly.

The Grace B. Powell Spelling Bee will be held at the Brenden Theaters on Thursday, January 27th, 2005 and the Solano County Elementary Spelling Bee Championship will be held at the Solano County Office of Education on Wednesday, March 23th, 2005.
