Carnival Night

While it was not the Italian town of Viaregio’s rendition of the carnival or Brazil’s extravagant presentation of the yearly carnival, Cambridge participants were not able to tell the difference. All of the elements of a carnival were at hand for all to enjoy. We had plenty of FUN! music, FUN! costumes, FUN! masks, FUN! dance, FUN! food, FUN! and plenty of "cascarones" (colorful egg shells filled with confetti to go around).

Participants were also able to taste traditional Latin American treats such as Mexican sopapias and Guatemalan buñuelos, all provided by our very own Comite´ de Padres Unidos. The focus of the activity was to introduce Language Immersion students and their families a taste of Latin American culture as it is expressed before Ash Wednesday or the beginning of Lent.
