Salsa Night

On Wednesday, February 19, 2003, the Multi-Purpose Room at Cambridge Elementary came alive with the sounds of the Caribbean under the direction of Armando Tam. Everyone present had the opportunity to learn the steps to three popular Latin rhythms—Salsa, Merengue, and Bacahata. In its effort to provide the community with multi-cultural events, the Comite´ de Padres Unidos (CPU) contracted Mr. Tam, a professional dance instructor, to come and teach interested community and staff members the dance steps to the above mentioned rhythms. The participants were able to enjoy 2 hours of nonstop movement. Needless to say, a good time was enjoyed by all. A special note of gratitude goes to Mr. Tam for sharing his talent with us, CPU for organizing the entire event, and PTA for providing the refreshments.

Because of the evening’s success, CPU would like to inform the community that this year’s Fiesta Night will center around a Caribbean theme. Caribbean food will be provided with a Salsa dance lesson. Plenty of music will be provided in the package deal. The event will be held early in May. Please start planning for an evening of fun.
