Cambridge Elementary was honored to have hosted Mr. Len Augustine, Mayor of the City of Vacaville, as our principal on Thursday, April 3, 2003. Mr. Augustine took part in the Solano Partnership for 21st Century Education Annual Principal-for-a-Day program. The purpose of this program is for business and community leaders to become acquainted with the issues facing schools and school administrators by placing them in the role of Principal, thus giving participants a manager’s view of our schools today. This event is scheduled county-wide.

As part of Mr. Augustine’s activities he had the opportunity to interact with our students, staff and community members in a variety of settings. He walked the halls, read to some classrooms, performed yard-duty supervision, monitored the lunch room, ate with students and tremendously enjoyed the conversations the students engaged him in. All through the day, Mr. Augustine was a good sport about the trials he was placed under and we hope he will come back and visit us often.
