Chris Corley, Marina Torres, and Ed Cohn

On Tuesday, October 9, 2001 Cambridge Elementary was honored by a performance from the San Francisco Opera Guild, "The Daughter of the Regiment." Opera a la Carte is a participatory program in which students take part in rehearsing and performing a reduced, English-language version of an opera from the main-stage season of the San Francisco opera. Designed to enhance the students' understanding of opera, the program includes professional singers, a pianist and a Guild volunteer as narrator.

The Opera a la Carte program offers a mini-version of an opera that can be presented in a classroom or auditorium. Small speaking roles are designed for students, who perform with the singers. We are proud of our student volunteers and helpers who made this an enjoyable event. We would like to acknowledge our future actors who did an outstanding job on the stage : Arielle Lambert, Jesse Schmidt, Kenonte Howard, Frankie Clay, Joelle MacLean, Nikki Jackson, Michelle Del Rosario and James Howard. At the same time, we would like to acknowledge Michelle Del Rosario's stage design, wich made the performance more realistic.

San Francisco Opera performers included: Marina Torres, Chris Corley, and Ed Cohn. Lisa Riley was the pianist. Opera docents, Mary Muerle and Jody Bourland provided narration and support.

Thank you Michelle! A note of gratitude also goes to Ms. Reyburn, who brings us these wonderful
experiences for all of us to enjoy.
