Cambridge students attended an assembly by Ms. Judy Clark for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Ms. Clark discussed with students disabilities and how they can affect people. To help illustrate her points, she had students volunteer to come and participate in several disability awareness activities. In one activity, a student was blindfolded then asked how many fingers the presenter was holding up. She couldn't see, but the student said that if she could feel her hand, she would be able to tell. SHE DID!
In another activity, several students acted as the body, nerves, and the brain. This activity demonstrated that in people with MS, the brain is unable to send messages through all the nerves in order to get the body to perform what the brain wants.
This assembly was the kick off for the MS Readathon. Between now and April 1st, students are being asked to get pledges for reading books. The money they collect will go to the MS Society. The students have opportunities to win prizes.
A flyer describing the Readathon will be coming home with your child.
