Michelle Itagaki
Junior Achievement Directors Rich Boschetti and Michelle Itagaki
met with classroom teachers and volunteers January 23rd to prepare for the Junior
Achievement program at Cambridge Elementary School.
Junior Achievement of the Bay Area trains volunteers from business and the community to teach students K-12 about economics in the United States. JA programs expose the students to careers and businesses. Through active, hands on participation, students increase their knowledge about the American economic system, the values of ethical business practices and the importance of developing academic skills. All lessons are aligned with curriculum standards.
The volunteers, recruited by Travis, Mary Patricia
Whelan-Mille reviewed instructional materials, teaching strategies, and classroom
tips presented by Michelle Itagaki. After, Karen Norton, Director of Student
Services, introduced classroom teachers to their volunteers to plan for their
first visit. The volunteers will present five lessons and activities to students
within the next six weeks.
Volunteers and business partners are needed for more classrooms. Contact Principal
Dr. Terry Jensen or Assistant Principal, Luis Carias to volunteer.
