Cambridge Pride

Joey Sarin, fourth grade student at Cambridge Elementary, touched the heart of many people here at home and around the world with his drawing appropriately titled "America is for Everyone."

Joey’s picture will be on the cover of an ophthalmologist medical magazine along with an interview. This magazine reaches over 150,000 doctors worldwide. In his interview, Joey spoke about Cambridge Elementary and the "All School Walk" held on Friday, September 14, 2001 around the school campus. This symbolic gesture was in response to our national crisis. The "All School Walk" culminated around the school’s flagpole where the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and patriotic songs were sung. Due to Joey’s message to the world, Cambridge Elementary will be represented by student artwork at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s convention to be held in New Orleans at the beginning of November.

Joey’s drawing was also the recipient of first place in the Solano County Multi-Cultural Awareness Month Poster contest among the fourth grade entries.

Cambridge Elementary will be taking T-shirt orders with Joey’s drawing to contribute to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.
