Cambridge Elementary was honored to have
hosted a delegation of elementary school educators from the islands
of Hawaii. The school was selected
from elementary schools throughout the state because of its successful
implementation of the Dale Seymore math program. Preparations
for the visit were made through Ms. Iris Mizuguchi, State Resource
Teacher for Mathematics and Literacy in Hawaii and Ms. Chelda
Ruff, Mathematics Curriculum Associate for Travis Unified School
District.
The Hawaiian teachers had the opportunity to
visit several classrooms and dialogue with their colleagues at
Cambridge during their one-day visit. Ms. June Seo, Special Education
(K-3) Teacher; Ms. Susan Kurihara, 5th Grade Teacher; Ms. Pualani
Wilmington, K-1 Teacher; Ms. Elizabeth Wormersley, Special Education
Teacher (4th Grade); Ms. Mary Perreira, 5th/6th Grade Teacher;
Ms. Lois Lum, Curriculum Coordinator; Ms. Leslie Beppu, 2nd Grade
Teacher; Ms. Shelley Nakagawa, 3rd Grade Teacher; Ms. Jill Hirota,
2nd Grade Teacher and Ms. Stacie Kikuchi, Special Education (3rd
and 4th Grade) Teacher headed the Hawaiian delegation. Ms. Olivares-Smith,
1st Grade Teacher; Ms. Barbara Marianno, 3rd Grade Teacher; Ms.
Rebecca Hill, 5th Grade Teacher; Ms. Mary Page, 1st Grade Teacher;
Ms. Annette Bennick, 4th Grade Teacher; Mr. Tom Adamick, 6th Grade
Teacher; Ms. Jeannette Wylie, 3rd Grade Teacher; Ms. Carol Baker-Lopez
and Ms. Stephanie Perlstein, 3rd Grade Teacher participated from
Cambridge Elementary.
